The Challenge

Nissin Foods is looking for a Marketing Director to own the Top Ramen and Nissin-endorsed brand portfolio and drive volume/profit growth through consumer-first strategy. You'll manage multi-million dollar P&Ls, lead innovation pipelines, and oversee all marketing execution from packaging to communications across major retail channels.

Your Mission

First 3 Months
1

Audit current brand portfolio performance, competitive positioning, and consumer sentiment across Top Ramen, Chow Mein, Hot & Spicy, and GEKI-translate findings into immediate strategic priorities

Establish baseline KPI dashboard tracking category trends, POS data (IRI), shipments, and consumer research to identify quick-win optimization opportunities

3

Align with Sales, R&D, and Finance on 12-month innovation/renovation roadmap, resource allocation, and P&L scenarios for existing and new projects

4

Launch or refine brand positioning and messaging strategy for lead SKU, validated through consumer testing and retail feedback

By 6 Months

Execute 2-3 innovation or renovation launches on-time and on-budget, achieving volume targets and positive consumer response metrics

Deliver refreshed packaging strategy and graphics modernization across portfolio, improving shelf impact and brand equity perception

Drive 3-5% volume growth and maintain/improve margin contribution on base business through promotional optimization and mix management

4

Build and mentor high-performing marketing team; establish playbooks for consumer insights, market analysis, and cross-functional decision-making

Track net volume gains on Top Ramen and endorsed brands against category and prior year; primary profit driver.

Brand Profit Contribution ($)

Monitor P&L health across portfolio-topline revenue, COGS, marketing spend, and net contribution; act as general manager.

Consumer Brand Health Scores

Measure awareness, consideration, preference, and loyalty via qualitative and quantitative research; inform strategy pivots.

Innovation Pipeline Velocity

Track ideation → concept → test → launch timeline for 5-year portfolio; ensure on-time, on-budget execution.

Market Share by SKU

Monitor share trends within instant noodles category using IRI POS data; competitive position indicator.

Retail Execution & Distribution

Track in-stock levels, promotional compliance, and shelf placement across key accounts; ensure visibility and availability.

  • You're a hands-on leader who can mentor a small team while staying deeply involved in strategic decision-making and execution

  • You're expecting 100% remote work or unwilling to commit to 3 days/week on-site in Los Angeles
  • You lack experience managing P&Ls, consumer research, or product innovation in CPG or similar verticals
  • You prefer agency/consulting over direct brand ownership and don't enjoy accountability for profit contribution
